Your Questions, Answered

Can I use a regular wash cycle for decorated garments?

Always use a delicate or low-spin cycle. Regular and heavy cycles put unnecessary stress on the decoration, whether it's embroidery, print or transfer. Cold water or a mild warm setting protects the decoration across all methods.

Can I iron over the decoration?

No. Never iron directly over the decorated area. If ironing is needed, turn the garment inside out and place a barrier such as a tea towel or light fabric over the decoration. For embroidered garments, avoid steam entirely, as it can damage the thread.

What's the best way to dry decorated garments?

Air drying in a shaded area is the safest option across all methods. If using a dryer, select a cool or low-heat setting. Avoid high heat and direct sunlight, both of which can damage the decoration over time.

Can I use bleach or fabric softener?

No bleach on any decorated garment. Fabric softeners and harsh detergents should also be avoided on heat press, Supacolour and sublimated garments, as they can degrade the transfer or dye. Stick to a mild detergent across all methods.

There's a ring or mark around my embroidery. Is that a defect?

No. A visible ring around the embroidery is normal and is caused by the frames used during the embroidery process. It usually washes out after the first cycle or can be gently sponged away. Occasional oil marks from the embroidery needles are also water-soluble and come out in a standard wash.

Can I dry clean decorated garments?

Screen printed garments should not be dry cleaned, as the chemicals can damage the print. For all other methods, machine washing following the Care Guide is the recommended approach. Always check the garment tag for specific instructions.

Why should I wash decorated garments inside out?

Washing inside out protects the decoration from abrasion against the drum and other items in the load. This applies to every decoration method and is the single most important step for keeping your branding looking sharp.

Do the same care instructions apply to every decoration method?

The fundamentals are the same: wash inside out, mild detergent, cold or mild warm water, delicate cycle, no bleach, and don't iron directly over the decoration. Each method has a few specific points (embroidery: no steam iron; heat press and Supacolour: no fabric softener; screen print: no dry cleaning). Download the Care Guide for your decoration method from this page for the full detail.
